Public Information Centre - Base Line/Town Line Single Lane Bridge Replacements
The City of Sault Ste Marie and Prince Township have initiated a Class Environmental Assessment (EA) for the replacement of the single lane bridges they share in common: two on Base Line between Town Line and Airport Rd, and two on Town Line, between Base Line and Second Line W. See Map.
The Process:
This study is being carried out in accordance with the planning and design process as outlined in the Municipal Engineers Association Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (2000, as amended in 2011) document. A key component of the study will be consultation with interested stakeholders (public and review agencies).
A Public Information Centre (PIC) will be held:
Monday December 10, 2012 at R.M. Moore Public School
(1272 Base Line)
3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Consultants and municipal staff will be available to discuss the proposed new bridges, possible road realignment alternatives to improve sight lines, the evaluation of alternatives, the assessment of impacts on the environment and the identification of reasonable measures to mitigate any adverse impact.
The public is invited on a come and go basis between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. to visit and provide input or have questions answered.
Upon completion of the study, a Project File will be prepared for public review and comment. Subject to comments received and the receipt of necessary approvals, the City and Township intend to proceed with the planning, design and reconstruction of some or all of these bridges with associated road improvements, when budgets permit.
