Sealed tenders, plainly marked as to contents, in the City of Sault Ste. Marie tender envelopes provided, will be received by the City Clerk until 3:00 p.m. local time on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 for the construction of the works described below:

The work generally consists of supplying all materials, labour and equipment necessary for the rehabilitation of the Great Northern Road/Highway 17 Bridge. The work requires the removal of deteriorated surface concrete from overhead, vertical and horizontal surfaces; localized cleaning and replacement of reinforcing steel; guiderail and parapet wall replacement; replacement of curbs; and, new deck waterproofing and asphalt. The contractor will be required to provide all scaffolding, falsework, formwork and traffic control measures.

Tender documents may be studied, but not removed without a deposit payment, at the Sault Ste. Marie Construction Association, 117 White Oak Drive East, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and at the office of the Consulting Engineer.

Complete tender documents, including tender forms and envelopes, may be obtained by general contractors commencing Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at the office of the Consulting Engineer located at M.R. Wright and Associates Co. Ltd., 71 Black Road, Unit 8, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, upon payment of a $50.00 refundable deposit, payable to the Corporation of the City of Sault Ste. Marie, for each set of contract documents. Contractors who submit a bona fide tender will have this deposit refunded if the documents are returned in good condition within fifteen (15) days after the tender closing date.

Tenders must be accompanied with a tender deposit in the form of a certified cheque in the amount of $50,000 payable to the Corporation of the City of Sault Ste. Marie. The successful bidder will be required to provide a 100% Performance Bond and 50% Labour and Material Payment Bond upon execution of the contract.

A public opening of this tender will be held at 3:15 p.m. local time on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 in the Tarentorus Room, Level 3, Civic Centre, 99 Foster Drive.

Tenders are subject to a formal contract being prepared and executed. The Corporation of the City of Sault Ste. Marie reserves the right to reject any or all tenders, and the lowest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.
