Requests For Service
In an effort to deliver the best service to each caller or visitor, we rely on a Service Request system. You start the process by visiting, phoning, or faxing the Public Works and Transportation Department with your request. Many activities such as sanding and salting or pothole patching are dealt with immediately. On the other hand, the work you request may have to be added to the appropriate maintenance program. If we are working in the area and funding is available, your request may be added to the current year’s work, otherwise your request is added to our list of outstanding requests for a subsequent year’s work. Maintenance programs have pre-set budgets and annual requests can exceed funds available.
We require the name, address and phone number of each caller and a description of the problem you are encountering.
We receive in excess of 20,000 service requests per year. Many of these requests are received at peak times such as heavy rainfalls or winter storms. Each request is important to us and will be dealt with in a timely and conscientious fashion. Requests specific to Sault Ste. Marie Transit or Cemetery Services are best dealt with by calling appropriate division .
