The Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee is appointed by Council. The Committee exists to advise, assist and make recommendations to Council in the provision of parks and recreation services, programs and facilities for citizens of Sault Ste. Marie.

This committee is comprised of nine appointed individuals - one member of City Council and eight community members.

The Committee is responsible:

To receive written communications and meet with individuals and groups on parks and recreation matters.

When requested by City Council, to review requests for changes to levels of service, develop and/or revise operating policies and review other areas, activities of special events relating to parks and recreation matters.

To liaise with City Staff in response to inquiries from the community relating to parks and recreation matters.

Meetings of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee are held on the first Tuesday of every month exception in July and August. Meetings are open to the public.  Meetings take place in the Russ Ramsay Board Room, Civic Centre, 99 Foster Drive.
