NOMINATION DEADLINE TOMORROW

The deadline for filing nomination papers for the October 25, 2010 municipal election is 2 p.m. tomorrow – Friday, September 10, 2010.

Eligible electors wishing to run for the office of Mayor, Councillor or School Trustee must file a nomination paper with the City Clerk by 2 p.m. Friday. Further information is available on the City’s website at www.cityssm.on.ca under Election 2010.

The following question will also appear on the ballot on October 25, 2010:

Are you in favour of retail establishments (stores) opening on December 26 (Boxing Day)?

Under the Municipal Elections Act, any individual, corporation or trade union that proposes to incur expenses with respect to the question, must file a notice of registration on the prescribed form with the City Clerk on or before 2 p.m. on Nomination Day, Friday, September 10, 2010.
