Facility and service requirements for outdoor sport facilities and parks are co-ordinated through this area.

The Recreation and Culture Division is responsible for scheduling and managing the development of 87 municipal outdoor sport fields, outdoor ice rinks and parks. In addition, the Recreation Assistant schedules and manages 59 outdoor School Board facilities during the summer months.

The City of Sault Ste. Marie maintains and operates three major sporting complexes which accommodate soccer, slowpitch, and football fields as well as a variety of minor fields across the city.
